Professional Tattoo Artist

Adrian Rod

With over 15 years of experience, Adrian Rod is a tattoo artist specialized in surrealism and realism, working in both color and black and grey. His work blends mythology, classical sculpture, baroque art, and natural elements to create powerful compositions that feel like visions from a dream.

While he masters a variety of styles, surrealism is where his artistic expression reaches its peak—each piece is a unique and deeply personal vision brought to life on skin.

Adrián is currently a resident artist at Inknation Studio NYC, one of the most prestigious studios in the world, and also works from his second base in Madrid, Spain. His work has been recognized at numerous conventions and featured in industry publications.

From 2014 to 2018, he ran his own studio, Altos Tattoo Studio in Venezuela, and has collaborated with renowned international studios such as:

•Iron & Ink – Copenhagen, Denmark

•La Machine Infernale – Lille, France

•Skull Tattoo Bad Vilbel – Frankfurt, Germany

•Västerortslack – Stockholm, Sweden

•Loyalty Tattoo Studio – Caracas, Venezuela

•Humanfly Tattoo Studio – Madrid, Spain

•Inknation Studio – Manhattan, New York

Time and Session Guidelines

I work in sessions of 5 to 6 hours, with short breaks.

The number of sessions required will depend on the area of the body you wish to tattoo, as well as the size and composition of the design.

Below you’ll find some general examples by body area, but please note that these are only estimates, as the time can vary greatly depending on each case.

You will receive a more accurate estimate of the number of sessions and the pricing after submitting your request through the booking form, including photos — which are essential for properly assessing your project.

These examples are based on real projects and will help you get a clearer idea for your own piece. Keep in mind that the number of sessions can vary depending on the size, level of detail, composition, and placement of the design. Because every tattoo is unique, the best way to receive an accurate estimate tailored to your idea is to complete the form and schedule a personalized consultation.

Frequently asked
questions

HOW IS THE BOOKING PROCESS?

First, you must fill out and submit the booking form, which you’ll find in the “Home” or “Booking” section. Then, check your inbox (and your spam folder) to confirm that you received an automatic email — this ensures that your form was submitted correctly.

Within a week, my manager Ainara will respond with a quote based on your idea and the estimated number of sessions.

If your project fits my style and we agree on the design, size, price, and work process, Ainara will help schedule a first appointment. This will be a free consultation, either in person or online, where we’ll go over all the details. After that, we’ll set the dates to begin the project.

Once everything is confirmed, you’ll receive a message with the terms and conditions, along with the payment details for the booking fee. Once the payment is completed, your appointment will be officially confirmed.

All requests receive a response, but not all projects are accepted. If the idea doesn’t fit my style, if the creative freedom I need as an artist is not respected, or if I believe another tattooer would be a better match, I may decline the project. In some cases, I might even recommend a colleague who better suits your idea.

I only work in realism and surrealism, as shown on my Instagram (recent works, from the past 2–3 years).

I may do cover-ups only if, after evaluating your photos, I believe the design and final result won’t be compromised.

I do not continue or retouch tattoos started by other artists, nor do I tattoo designs created by clients or third parties. I take care of the entire creative process from scratch to ensure a unique, custom piece just for you.

I work both weekdays and weekends. Sessions usually start between 10:00 and 11:00 and finish between 19:00 and 20:00, although this can vary.

Appointments are always arranged according to mutual availability, and my manager Ainara will coordinate that with you.

Pricing is defined after submitting the booking form. The area of the body, size, and complexity of the design determine the number of sessions required.

For example, a design from shoulder to elbow is not the same as one from knee to ankle or a full back piece. If you’re unsure about the design or placement, I’ll be happy to guide and advise you.

Yes, I request a booking fee to reserve your appointment. The amount may vary depending on whether it’s a single session or multiple consecutive sessions (for example, if you’re traveling from afar).

Payment is made via bank transfer or Zelle, and the amount will be deducted from your final balance.

This fee is non-refundable, but you can reschedule your appointment once, as long as you notify us at least 3 business days in advance.

I accept Zelle, card, or cash.

• Get good rest the days before, especially the night prior.

•Eat well and stay hydrated.

•Avoid alcohol at least two days before your session.

•Take a shower and come in clean clothes.

•Avoid sun exposure or tanning on the area to be tattooed.

•Start moisturizing your skin a few weeks in advance.

•There’s no need to shave the area — I’ll take care of that if needed.

• You’re welcome to bring your own food; the studio has a fridge and microwave.

•You can also bring snacks. Water and coffee are available for free.

•Wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area and won’t rub on it afterward.

•Dark clothing is ideal, in case any ink stains occur.

•Bring headphones, a charger, a tablet — anything you need to stay comfortable. A sweater is also recommended in case the AC feels cold.

Infections and allergic reactions are rare, but they can happen.

If you have allergies or skin conditions, it’s advisable to consult your doctor beforehand.

At the studio, you’ll sign a consent form and receive proper aftercare instructions.

Following these guidelines is essential to avoid complications.

• On the day of your session, I’ll clean and cover the area and give you materials for the first bandage change at home.

•For the first 3 days, wash the area with cold water and keep it clean and dry. Don’t cover it again — let the skin breathe.

•If fluid comes out, wash again and dry gently with kitchen paper or a clean towel.

•I’ll give you a second skin–style bandage (like a sticker), which you can leave on for 3 to 5 days, as long as it doesn’t peel off or form bubbles.

•After that, apply a thin layer of Panthenol or Aquaphor (available at most pharmacies).

•If you develop a fever or feel unwell, consult a doctor.

•If you have any doubts, feel free to write to my manager.

•I only offer retouches when truly necessary. You’ll need to send photos for evaluation.

•If I believe a touch-up is needed, I’ll let you know.

•Retouches are free if requested within 3 months of the session and if you followed the aftercare properly.

•If not, the touch-up will be charged as a full or partial session depending on how much work is needed.

•No booking fee is required for free retouches, but you can only reschedule once within that 3-month period.

Important:

•If you contact us after 3 months, the touch-up will have a cost.

•If you didn’t follow the aftercare instructions and the tattoo is affected, it will be charged.

•If you want to add or modify anything not agreed on the day of the tattoo, it will be charged.

•If you cancel your appointment and contact us outside the 3-month period, it will be charged.

•If you cancel twice, you’ll have to pay to secure a third date.

•If I need to reschedule for any reason, no charges will apply.

No, under any circumstance.
